Frequent Questions

Yes, under certain conditions.

An electronic signature (entered using a stylus or finger on an electronic device) is accepted, provided it is accompanied by the validation history or audit trail generated by authorized software.

Before using an electronic signature, we recommend that you speak with your Advisor.

If this is not possible, an original signature is required.

If your insurance contract was issued after April 27, 2020, or if it’s an investment contract, you can view it through the My Universe portal.

Contracts issued before that date may not be available online.

If you’re unsure or need help, feel free to call us at 1-800-567-0988.

Take a moment to go over your current contract and discuss your options with your Advisor—they know your insurance contract well.

If you do not have an Advisor and would like to cancel your insurance contract, please complete the Cancellation Request form and return it to UV Insurance. If your contract has a cash value, tax implications may apply.

If you do not have an Advisor and would like to set up or change a monthly or annual pre-authorized debit from your bank account, please complete the Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) form and return it to UV Insurance.

Life can bring challenging moments, such as illness or the loss of a loved one. During these difficult times, we want you to know that we’re here for you and will do everything we can to make things as simple as possible.

If you have an Advisor, we encourage you to reach out to them—they know your contract well and can help guide you through the next steps.

If you don’t have an Advisor, please call us at 1-800-567-0988.

When you call, have the following information ready:

  • Contract number;
  • Name of the insured or beneficiaries;
  • Cause of disability or death;
  • Place of death (in the case of a life insurance claim).

Steps in the claim process:

  • We’ll open a claim on your behalf;
  • Our Claims team will handle your file and get back to you as soon as possible;
  • We’ll let you know which documents are needed to review your claim.

Log in to your app or online banking website.

Add UV Insurance as a beneficiary. If you cannot find it, search under our former names: UL Mutual or Union Life.

Important: Do not select the “collective” or “group” options.

Account number to use:

  • If your contract number has 9 digits and starts with 11, use this number.
  • If your contract has 6 digits, use the 9-digit number (starting with 00) shown on your premium notice. If you cannot find it, please call us.

You may be able to access funds from your life insurance contract if it has a cash value. This can be done through a partial surrender, a loan, or a full surrender if the contract is terminated.

 We encourage you to review your current contract and speak with your Advisor, who is familiar with the details of your coverage. They can help you explore your options and explain the potential tax implications of accessing your contract’s cash value or taking out a loan.

If you do not have an Advisor and would like to withdraw or borrow from your contract’s cash value, please complete the Cash Value Request form or the Contract Loan Request form and return it to UV Insurance.

If you do not have an Advisor and would like a copy of your insurance contract, please complete the contract duplicate form and return it to UV Insurance. A fee of $30 is payable.

If you do not have an Advisor, please call our Customer Service department at 1-800-567-0988. For security reasons, we cannot send personal information by email without first verifying your identity.
