Life Insurance and Disability Insurance (Short- and Long-Term)
For crucial support and peace of mind, assisting you in meeting your financial responsibilities during challenging times.
Life insurance is the backbone of your plan. It provides essential coverage for your employees, and is an important competitive benefit. UV Insurance offers basic life insurance for employees and their dependants. It will be mandatory upon enrolment, unless you opt for optional life insurance.
You can also add accidental death and dismemberment coverage, which doubles the amount paid out to beneficiaries in the event of accidental death or serious injury, for both the employee and their dependants.
Short-term disability insurance is available under the traditional plan, integrated plan with employment insurance or supplementary unemployment benefits.
Long-term disability insurance covers periods of disability of 2 or 5 years. It is available up to age 60 or 65, depending on the employer’s choice.

Health, Prescription Drug, Vision Care and Dental Insurance
To access necessary care at a lower cost, when medical expenses are not covered by Medicare.
Health care insurance is designed to reduce current medical expenses and facilitate access to care. Sometimes called health insurance, it covers routine medical expenses not covered by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ), such as:
- prescription drugs
- paramedical care (e.g., physiotherapist, psychologist, massage therapist, etc.)
- hospital care
- medical equipment
Vision care insurance will partially cover the cost of eye exams, glasses, contact lenses or corrective surgery.
Dental insurance will cover dental cleanings, preventive care, repairs and, depending on the plan, more advanced treatments such as orthodontics.

Critical Illness Insurance (4 and 19 Illnesses)
For immediate financial support when the unexpected happens, to help you recover and get back to work.
The 4 illness critical illness insurance can be added to your plan for 5 or more members, covering the spouse and children living in the same household. Coverage amounts are either salary-based or a fixed amount, depending on the agreement between the employer and UV Insurance.
The 4 illnesses covered are: cancer, coronary surgery, heart attack and stroke.
19 illness critical illness insurance can be added to your plan for 10 or more members. Specific illnesses are covered for the member, while others are also covered for the spouse and children living in the same household. Coverage amounts are fixed and vary depending on the agreement between the employer and UV Insurance.
The 19 illnesses covered are: cancer, coronary surgery, heart attack, stroke, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, Parkinson’s disease, muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer’s disease, motor neurone disease, occupational HIV infection, blindness, kidney failure, vital organ transplants or listed vital organ failure, severe burns, coma, deafness, loss of speech, permanent long-term care as well as severe brain damage, Down syndrome and severe intellectual disability.

Travel Insurance, Assistance and Cancellation
To cover the unexpected abroad and avoid exorbitant medical fees.
With health insurance coverage under your group insurance plan, members receive comprehensive protection in the event of an unforeseen medical emergency occurring outside your province of residence.
This service includes:
- 24/7 multilingual telephone support for coordination
- Medical assistance
- Reimbursement of hospital and medical expenses, up to $5 million
- Medical transportation
- Other eligible costs, such as repatriation in case of death or return of dependent children
The duration of the eligible trip depends on your contract.
Is an emergency preventing you from travelling or interrupting your plans?
The trip cancellation benefit covers you for up to five thousand dollars ($5,000), per insured, per trip.

Health Management Account and Modular Plan
For the most comprehensive coverage, tailored to the needs of each professional class within a company.
Allocate an annual amount per employee that can be used to reimburse eligible expenses, whether or not they are covered by the group insurance plan or RAMQ.
The flexible Health Management Account (HMA) is available in three ways:
- Traditional HMA
- Insured HMA
- Cost Plus (for specific individuals)
The modular plan is available for 20 or more member employees, enabling you to vary your group insurance offering to better meet the specific needs of your staff. Each module includes the UV Health+ Program.
Offering a modular plan allows employees to choose from different coverage options to suit their specific situation.
The insured chooses a module for a minimum of 24 months. Changes of module are then permitted on the renewal date or within 30 days of a life event (e.g., birth, wedding, loss of spouse’s job, etc.).
