Please be advised of the importance and necessity of providing complete and accurate information about the contract owner’s insurance history when submitting an application. This is vital for a number of reasons, including transparency, risk management and fraud prevention.
In Simplified Issue, the section of the application regarding the insurance history is not part of the eligibility questionnaire. Instead, it helps to identify any inconsistencies in the contract owner’s statements, when the MIB file is systematically checked by our Underwriting department.
To document your file thoroughly and avoid subsequent changes, it’s crucial that all the information you provide is as accurate and complete as possible.
Possible Scenarios Following MIB Check
If the MIB check is negative, the application can be quickly accepted within a few hours to a few days.
If the MIB check is positive, but not related to our eligibility questions, the application can be quickly accepted within a few hours to a few days.
If the MIB file check is positive and reveals inconsistencies with our eligibility questions, the underwriting team will get in touch with you to obtain clarification to justify certain answers given by the insured.
The duly completed and signed notice of replacement can be attached directly to the electronic application, avoiding the need to send it by email.
If not enclosed at the time of submission of the application, receipt of the notice of replacement duly signed by the contract owner and the advisor will be a necessary delivery requirement for the contract to come into effect.
The notice of replacement can also be submitted by email to the following address: [email protected].
An annual discount of $15 or a monthly discount of $1.35 is available when at least two eligible contracts are in effect, including the first contract.
- The discount is guaranteed for the duration of the contract, even if one of the contracts is subsequently cancelled.
- The multi-contract discount is automatically applied when an insured has basic coverage with a Term Superior+ rider. In this instance, checking the multi-contract discount box will not affect the premium, as the discount is already included.
Early Learning and Juvenile 30/100 are not eligible for the discount.
The discount can be applied directly in the illustrator, by checking the appropriate box, if the criteria are met:
- Personal contract: apply for the multi-contract discount if the same address is used for all contracts (insureds, owners and payers) and there is a link between them (parent, partner or children).
- Business contract: apply for the multi-contract discount if the same address is used for all contracts (owners and payers) and there is a business relationship between the insureds (associates).
The multi-contract discount may also be applied when an eligible contract is already in effect with UV Insurance, provided it is in payment of premium (not paid up), excluding Early Learning.
You can request the age conservation by changing it in the Age in the contract box of the illustrator. The premium calculated will be based on the previous age, rather than the age at the nearest birthday, and premiums must be paid from the earlier effective date. At the time the contract comes into force, we will inform you of the total amount to be paid for the first premium if age conservation has been requested.
Life Insurance
You can set the effective date of the contract no more than 6 months earlier.
Joint First-to die
The age conservation will apply to all insureds in the application. You cannot apply the age conservation to a single insured.
Simplified Issue contracts are available exclusively to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Anyone holding another status in Canada is not eligible.
